Pinela
Motorised louvred roof. Aluminium blades that rotate for light, shade or shelter, on a remote.
Guide price from £7,445
What Pinela actually is
Pinela is the top of the range, and the one people book a survey for after seeing it working. The roof is made of aluminium blades that rotate on a motor. Open them flat for full sun, angle them for dappled shade and airflow, or close them flush and they seal into a solid roof that sheds rain into the frame.
The reason it costs more than a fixed roof is that you are buying control. On a hot afternoon you can vent the heat out rather than trapping it, which is the usual complaint about glass roofed rooms in summer.
What it is good for
- South facing patios
Angle the blades and you get shade and ventilation instead of a heat trap.
- Year round use
Closed and sealed in winter, wide open in July, with no compromise either way.
- Hot tubs and pools
The louvres let steam and moisture out rather than holding it underneath.
